Reigning & defending champion Hopkins broke the CompuBox record for total power punches landed by a middleweight at 375. He landed 419 of 819 total punches to cruise to a unanimous decision against former WBA minor strap holder Joppy by scores of 118-109; 119-109; 119-108:

In the joint main event IBF welterweight strap holder Cory Spinks became undisputed welterweight champ when he pulled of a majority decision win against WBC/WBA strap holder against Nicaraguan Wildman Ricardo Mayorga by scores of 114-114; 117-110; 114-112: Mayorga penalized 1 point in round 5 for hitting after the bell and also 1 point in round 11 for holding and hitting. Spinks also picked up the RING Magazine belt in the process.
