Steve Collins the reigning WBO middleweight champion stepped up in weight to defeat the previously unbeaten long-reigning WBO super-middleweight champion Chris Eubank who was making the 15th defence of his WBO world super-middleweight crown. Collins had enlisted the help of well known guru Tony Quinn, and they led the press to believe that Collins would be hypnotised for the fight. True to form, Collins sat in his corner and did not move, listening to headphones during Eubanks' ring entrance but admitted it was an elaborate hoax after his victory. In a brutal affair which saw defending champion Eubank down in the 8rd round & Collins down in the 10th it went to the scorecards after 12 rounds, the judges all scored it in favour by unanimous decision by scores of 116-114 / 115/111 / 114/113 in favour of the challenger & new WBO super-middleweight king Steve Collins.
