ROY JONES JR vs. JOHN RUIZ (HBO)

Description : Here we have an original full-size HBO boxing pay-per-view fight poster for the WBA world heavyweight championship title bout held at the American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida, USA, 2nd February 2002.

Late in 2002, Roy Jones, Jr., who at the time was the undisputed light heavyweight champion and had previously held world titles in both the middleweight and super middleweight divisions, announced that he had agreed to move up to the heavyweight division to challenge WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz for his title.

Jones successfully made the jump from light heavyweight to heavyweight champion by defeating Ruiz in a 12-round decision, 116-112, 117-111 and 118-110, to become the World Boxing Association heavyweight champion, adding yet another impressive feat to what has been a legendary career. Despite giving up a lot of height and weight to Ruiz, Jones dominated most of the fight. Jones used his superior boxing skills and hand speed to his advantage and used timely jabs and uppercuts against Ruiz, who was unable to land a sustained amount of offense, only connecting with 89 of 433 thrown punches for a dismal 21% success rate. By round four Jones' punches caused Ruiz's nose to bleed, which hindered Ruiz for the remainder of the fight.

These HBO & Showtime PPV posters are not made available for public consumption & can only be sourced from a participating PPV outlet hence the scarcity as once the televised event if over, then these posters go straight to skip.
