Description : Here we have an original full-size HBO boxing closed circuit fight poster for the WBC world lightweight championship title bout held at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, 20th April 2002.

In 2002 reigning & defending WBC world lightweight champion Castillo making his 4th defence, met a rising, flashy 27-0 superstar named Floyd Mayweather, Jr . Mayweather used his speed and skills to control the early rounds with his jab and fleet feet. Then Castillo got his momentum going and gave Mayweather something he had never experienced before: a guy with the grit to wade through all those fast, sharp shots, and then dig a couple of left hooks into the body. The numbers tell it all: Castillo twice as many power punches as Mayweather, literally overwhelming him on the inside. He also threw and landed more jabs. The late rounds were particularly telling, as Castillo broke Mayweather up on the inside, hammering his body. The common consensus among the majority of the ring side scribes was that Castillo should have won a clear points victory & at the very least a draw, thus retaining his title, but instead was on the dubious end of what is usually known as, a 'Vegas' decision! Judge: Anek Hongtongkam 116-111: Judge: John Keane 115-111: Judge: Jerry Roth 115-111; all scored the bout in favour of the challenger & new WBC world lightweight champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

These HBO & Showtime PPV posters are not made available for public consumption & can only be sourced from a participating PPV outlet hence the scarcity as once the televised event if over, then these posters go straight to skip.
