Scott Welsh was replaced for this 10 round affair by Richard Mason who also had the status of becoming the first man ever to deck Axel Schulz, but to no avail as Schultz went on to win a clear cut 10 round decision & move onto the European Title. American Charles Brewer, the reigning & defending IBF Super/Middleweight champion was also on the bill defending his crown against Antoine Byrd who he defeated by TKO in the 3rd round. This would be Brewer's last defense of his crown before losing it to the German ace, Sven Ottke.
